About the project
The modern, spacious interior, which is part of the library and study center at NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences in Leeuwarden designed by Spring Studio. The interior has an open and airy feel, with plenty of natural light streaming in through large skylights. The space is divided into different levels, with stairs leading up to a higher platform where tables and chairs are set up for studying or working.
The architecture emphasizes openness and accessibility, and the space is ideal for studying, reading, or group work.
The curtain in the background has a modern, sleek design that visually divides the space without completely losing the sense of openness. The curtain is made of light pastel green-blue fabrics Flamondo and Sonora and hangs from the ceiling to the floor. Both are flame-retardant fabrics made from recycled PET. A high-quality, sustainable choice.
A striking feature is the geometric, stair-step pattern, in which the height of the curtain varies, creating a playful and dynamic effect. The interior designer drew inspiration from the books in the library. The semi-transparent section allows light to partially pass through the curtain, contributing to a bright and airy atmosphere in the space. The curtain is intended to separate functional areas, such as work or study spaces, without requiring a permanent wall, while also enhancing the overall ambiance of the large space.
